SUNDAY AFTERNOONS, 1-4 pm: Franklin County Drawing Posse.  An informal drawing group led by Anja Schutz.  All skill levels more than welcome.  

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 4      Ace Your Job Interview with Judith Lorei  7pm    

“Tell me about yourself.” These four words can kill your job interview if not answered with forethought and conviction. In this workshop, we will review traditional and behavioral based interview questions, explore key techniques and strategies for successful interviewing, and practice answering common interview questions.  

Judith Lorei  is a workforce development consultant who provides professional development for staff of education, training and employment programs throughout Massachusetts.

THURSDAYS  May 12 & 19, 7pm    (and then every Thursday starting in June). Ping Pong! Thanks in large part to a donation from the Montague Elks Lodge, Thrive now has a ping-pong table that we’ll be opening up on Thursday nights (and other times, to be determined later). Come slam a crosscourt winner! (or teach or learn how to do so)

 

 

INFORMATION SESSIONS & GCC SPRING SAMPLER  

 

WEDNESDAY MAY 4,  5-6pm  Warm-up to the Young Entrepreneur’s Fair  Annie Tierney from Community Action Youth Programs will be introducing the Fair (to be held on Saturday June 4th,  1-4pm at Greenfield High School) in which young people can learn how to start a business such as walking dogs, babysitting, mowing lawns, fixing computers, making jewelry, the list goes on and on!   

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 18,  7-9 pm: GCC SPRING SAMPLER, FINAL SESSION!:  Don’t miss this great chance to not only learn more about educational opportunities at GCC, but explore possibilities in different careers as well.  Meet with representatives from both the Admissions and Financial Aid offices, get help with applications, and learn what steps you need to take to start furthering your education.  This month: The Anatomy and Physiology department, represented by Jay Gump.

WEDNESDAY, May 25, 3:15-5 pm: Dress for Success.

Meet at Thrive to go shopping at Turners' Salvation Army for knock-‘em-dead interview & work clothes with noted clothes-wearer and fashion consultant J. Thomas Berger.

 

Sunday MAY 22, 4pm  Thrive: Show!

A monthly series dedicated to performance and cultural exchange.  Readings, music, light refreshments, and a whole lot of fun. This month is Thrive Staff Show-time, featuring readings and music by staff and volunteers including Janel Nockleby, Jamie Berger, and more!

 

TUESDAY, MAY 26, 7-9 pm: Music Exchange!

  Bring your instrument and play some songs, practice, teach, learn, share.  Led  by Steve “Coolio” Koziol. See our facebook page for our songs of the month to learn and come in ready to play.

DROP IN ANY TIME during open hours & talk to a Thrive staffer about what you need, where you want to be, & how you’re going to get there. We can help you take the next step! Use our laptops & free internet.  Borrow a book from our Resource Library, or pick up materials from a range of F.C. service providers.  Get a referral.  Discover cultural & career opportunities on our bulletin board & web site. 

 

ONE-ON-ONE COACHING:  Come to Thrive for career, academic and life coaching, homework and resume and job-search help . . . .  Through tutoring and mentoring, we can help you get your GED, get ready to take the SAT, & prepare for and transition into college courses; deepen your understanding of basic math & track your personal finances; set up an email acct. & discover free online resources; and move forward with general writing & editing projects, inc. applications, letters, essays, resumes, music and art projects, community involvement and volunteerism, the list goes on.
